There isn’t a great wealth of airports in the south west of Britain. Whereas if you are living in the south east, you have all the airports in London, or you’re living in the north where there are Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds Bradford airports, the only airport that is feasibly within commuting distance in the south west is Bristol airport which means that it is one of the most popular airports outside of London (the majority of people who want to fly on holiday living in Cornwall or Devon fly from Bristol because of its closeness to their homes – in this age of soaring petrol prices, the last thing that you want to be doing is driving across Britain and using up an extra few gallons of petrol!).

It is very easy to travel to Bristol airport no matter where you’re coming from. The motorway network surrounding Bristol means that, no matter whether you are travelling from the north, south or east, you will be able to drive very quickly and directly to the airport. For those who prefer to catch the train, this is no easier anywhere else than it is at Bristol airport. There are trains from the country’s larger stations that go directly to Bristol and a regular (every 15 minutes) train service that links the station in Bristol with the airport which means that it is very unlikely that you’ll ever be late for your train, providing that you are able to get to Bristol in the first place!

When you arrive in Britain, the last thing that you want to be doing is trying to find a place to stay the night. Bristol airport is the destination of choice for many people largely due to the fact that a majority of the budget airlines fly into it. This makes sense; in this age of recession, the last thing you want to be doing is paying over the odds for a flight that you could get much cheaper. The only issue is that you have to compromise on the times that you fly. Unfortunately, the reason why many of these flights are so cheap is because they fly at such antisocial hours; early morning or late at night. Obviously, an early morning flight is going to be less of an issue than a late flight – there is plenty of time to get into Bristol and find a hotel. However, for those flying in late it is, quite frankly, too difficult to get into Bristol to a hotel.

It is, therefore, fortunate that there are numerous hotels within a mile of the airport. The most appeaseable for a brief stop overnight is the Holiday Inn. Offering excellent accommodation at a competitive price and designed specifically for a short stay it is more than adequate for the night. The other advantage is that it has a restaurant on site – perfect if you want to have a breakfast the next morning. The most important part is that you are able to relax, both when you are flying to Bristol and when you are trying to get some rest!
